My family moved to Detroit in 1932 when I was 4 years old. We immediately joined Shaarey Zedek which was being built at the time. We lived on Calvert and Linwood. Cantor Sonenklar lived across the street and Rabbi Hershman lived a few doors west. On Shabbos, everyone walked to Shul and I loved going to the Junior Congregation in the Kate Frank Bldg. for services every Shabbos. I was Consecrated there in 1944 and married there in 1948. Even though I loved the Southfield building, Chicago Blvd. at Lawton will always hold a treasured place in my heart. Joan Davidoff Stein
