Mr. Johnnie Harrison Taylor, One of the greatest voices EVER!!!! Johnnie Taylor is the very first voice I remember hearing when I was about three or four years old. That was around the time he was releasing all his Malaco albums: This Is your Night, Wall to Wall, Crazy Bout You and so on. No one could tell a story like Johnnie Taylor. Johnnie was truly one of the greatest to ever do it. I would love to list some of my favorite JT cuts, but if I started this post would be a book, but he is the man and I miss him dearly. Here is one of my favorites cuts from what we used to call him here where I am from "Johnnie Taylor the Dallas Wailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =dUOYtEUGtjo T.L. Harris |

Marv, Actually I was in 2nd grade in 1989.......lol We were just sill playing that record then. Kdubya, The petition pretty much died because lack of support, but I will be bringing it back this year. Johnnie Taylor deserves to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I just have to go about it a different way, but rest assured it will get done. T.L. Harris |

What was the explanation for Johnnie's releases for RCA in 1977 whilst he was still signed to Columbia? |

I think the RCA stuff was licensed to that label by Don Davis and consisted of unissued Stax recordings (or recordings intended for Stax but not handed over yet by their producer Don Davis to the Memphis set-up when that label went under). |

I use to have a picture of Mary Wilson and Johnnie Taylor together at a party at her house. Freda Payne was my personal "pin-up" girl back in the day. <g> This is after she was the Jet Magazine Beauty of the Week and before she became the First Dame of Malta! LOL! Johnnie also sang "ain't no sense in going home, Jody's got your girl and gone!"! |

One of my favourite Johnnie tracks of all time, which I played on the show not that long ago. That reminds me, I must dig out "Just Ain't Good Enough" from 1982 soon. Thanks for the link Michael. |
