in the good old days around this time in the 70's and 80's i used to listen to all the new york radio stations year end countdowns. wbls, wwrl, 92ktu, z100, wplj, kiss, and my favorite wcbs top 500 where every year the five satins in the still of the night held the #1 spot for like 20 years, earth angel was #2 i will never forget that! but this year my friends and i are going to hangout and party.
what about u?

I'll probably drive to one of the local hangouts that ain't gonna charge me an arm & a leg for food & drink, watch the ball drop on TV, then head home.

Same place that I've went to the past few years...it's a mile or two from my house, and it's probably the only place I go to on a regular basis. I'm comfortable there, have known the owner for 20-21 years, and I have fun there.

Hangin' with the almost grown children in the afternoon. Playing a Rock & Blues All Star jam, and attending a CD release Party on NYE. Cheering on The BEARCATS @ The Orange Bowl (!!) with a huge collection of Chicago UC alumni on New Years Day. Happy New Year to all...

I'll be at home. I left the "party train" decades ago - can't hang with the chuckleheads. Will most likely see what's up on WBEZ radio (NPR local outlet) for their NYE programming. Last year, Ledisi performed with the Count Basie Orchestra and I almost missed it.

This is the first year I have NO PLANS. It's a fool man's game to be out driving on NYE, and the wait for a cab in horrendous. Kevin; my parents will be in your neck of the woods at "Turtle". If I happen to tag along, I'll give you a shout, mabe we can meet for a drink and some conversation.

I'm going to Chicago to be with family and friends. So far there are three of us driving up. We'll be hanging out with my favorite cousins and going to a relatives party which will be a big shindig. I gotta TRY not to each to much.

I spent New year's Eve in the old city of Antwerp, Belgium, where I stayed at the home of the son in law of the girl friend I was traveling with.
I had the time of my life. Huge fire works at midnight on the river Schelde, both banks overcrowded with people. Hot chocolate afterwards in the old inner city. A very adventurous tram- and bus ride to the address where I stayed the night.
Light freezing weather, clear skies, no wind.
The 41st year in my adult life in which I didn't buy fire works myself. A good and healthy tradition...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
