Isn't Jennifer Hudson amazing? I'm in awe of her and glad she is my friend on myspace.com.

A good movie. It was better than I thought it would be - I'm not really into musicals that much. This really is Jennifer's story and she should have been submitted in the Best Actress category, not Best Supporting Actress.

But she is good and she gives a nuanced performance in the same way that Diana Ross gave a nuanced performance in Lady Sings The Blues. And they treat Diana very nicely in the movie.

I finally saw Dreamgirls & all that I can say is that Jennifer is a natural. The girl absolutely stole that movie & dominated it. Whenever she was in a scene, my eyes was automatically drawn to her. The girl was intense & very believable to me. I waited until all of the hype died down, so that my judgement wouldn't be influenced by it. All that I can say is that she is amazing.

What she has is natural & you can buy it in a store, or get it from Simon Cowell or American Idol. Jennifer should go on to bigger & better things & it looks like the world could be her oyster. Most of all, I appreciate the fact that a woman who doesn't have to purge herself in order to obtain a "marketable" look, has put on such a great performance, that maybe, just maybe, the powers-that-be may begin to realize that a woman doesn't have to be a size 3 to absolutely knock our socks off.

Jennifer has a figure that is more in line with most of the women that we know. Hell, she's built like most of the women that I'm attracted to & she looks damn good, if I do say so myself. Damn, could it be I'm falling in love?

NAAAAH!!! I'm just glad to see her have an opportunity to shine. I thought that it stunk when she was voted off of Idol.

Go head with your bad self girl & just one thing comes to mind...

I wonder how Simon feels about her future peospects now?

Talk about "Oops, upside your head"!

Thanks antceleb for the clip...it was always going to be interesting to see how Jennifer Hudson tackled that song! And how well she did although the backing seems a little grungy or is it just my PC?
I still wonder if it shouldn't have been the other JH up there if she had been able to get her thing together. Hers is still the raw, real version and for me nothing could take away the emotional impact of hearing the original for the first time.
But Jennifer Hudson I guess was on a hiding to nothing taking on that role and has come out way on top.

Jennifer Hudson was remarkable in her first film ever.

She was believable and very natural.

Do you guys know Effie White is the first real, multi dimensional black woman to be portrayed on film?

Sure there have been others but they were kind of one-dimensional. They were either all bad like Carmen Jones, Shug Avery or plagued with problems like Billie Holiday and Letisha in Monster's Ball, caricatures like Mammy and Oda Mae in Ghost or they were saints like Celie or Rebecca in sounder.

Effie White is a complex character. She's funny, sad, good, talented, haughty, starving for attention and love, plump, sexy, mean, gracious,, generous, stubborn, earthy, a loser, a survivor, etc. Hudson ran through all of the emotions and never came across as false.
