Went shopping last night and discovered this Barbara Lewis CD, a reissue of two of her Atlantic LPs. Had no idea this was coming out and (upon further internet research), it looks like it's been in release since November. Whatever--I'm thrilled to have these LPs on CD at last! Odd tho, that they didn't choose the bigger-selling "Baby I'm Yours" LP over "Workin' on a Groovy Thing." |

arjayvee - I bought this recently. It's great with nice sound. Did she have a fourth album? Maybe they're saving Baby I'm Yours to double up with something else. I hope so! Oldies |

She had another Atlantic lp called ITS MAGIC. Maybe they'll pair it up with that. |

She had at least two other albums on Atlantic -- "Barbara Lewis Sings the Great Soul Tunes" and "It's Magic." There was also a 'Best of' compilation, I believe. |

This is a great CD and I added it to my iPod. I didn't realize that she wrote all the songs on her first album. Isn't that pretty rare for the time? If there are two more albums, I hope they are released soon. |

It's Magic was Barbara's favorite album of her own music and the one she most would like to see reissued on cd. |

The interview I recently did with Barbara Lewis is available on line at http://www.goldminemag.com/ This is the full-length version. The version in the February 2 issue of Goldmine is about 1/3 shorter in length (they are currently encouraging people to checkout the website by offering interview versions not available in the magazine). Let me know what you think. Thanks. Jim |

Jim, I loved the interview. Barbara Lewis has always been one of my favorites singers. Her voice is great. I'm hoping they do some more of the two-fers discussed above. Funny, while reading the interview I was thinking she seems like such a nice person, then at the end she states that is what she wants people to remember about her, just that she is nice. The tray card in the two-fer I just bought says she went to high school in South Lyon Michigan. Maybe she went to school with my soon-to-be son-in-law's parents! Wouldn't that be a small world? Again, great job on the interview and thanks for the link. Oldies |
